its wierd to even think about it but i would like to know what causes this issue
Simon, all life starts off as feminine. Even you, believe it or not. The one egg can develop in accordance to whether the first sperm unit to penetrate and do the fertilisation is either feminine or masculine.
A lot of changes do occur, one being whether the embryo develops a vagina or a penis. Biologically, it can be traced how one develops from the other. But to understand more about that, you need to consult an appropriate publication. There are heaps available for you to consult.
It is all just part of the wonderful story of life.
HOWEVER, are you referring to somebody who is born with both? That is a freak of nature, where the seed has been given something of both sexes. Thank goodness it does not occur very often, but such a baby might have a vagina and a badly formed trace of a penis. It would be normal for the baby to have corrective surgery after birth. In ancient days, it simply would have been exposed to perish.

Extremely rare is the person who has all the genitalia and organs of both sexes. During the first trimester of pregnancy, embryos are physically the same, as far as genitalia are concerned. Gender is already determined; it-s just that the sexual organs have not yet begun to develop. Something in this area, obviously goes off-track.Well first its not an issue, its biology. Second you start out as a girl but then your male DNA kicks in and you grow a penis instead. To be a male child you have to have XY chroma-zone-s and to be a girl you have to have XX chroma-zones.
