The head will actually fade in color and as it -dries out- and builds up a resistance to contact with air and clothing it will no longer be shiny and probably change to more of a dull purplish pink. If you mean the shaftskin, then I am not sure, my guess is it will take awhile for it to fully heal and regain the previous color, but if there is still pain I would head back in and see whats up.
